Project description

One of the most disabling complications of diabetes is diabetic foot ulcer. Diabetic foot ulcer not only leads to physical disability but also affect the quality of life (QoL) of diabetics. Treatment of diabetic foot ulcer is a long-term process and creates favorable conditions for the patients that can play an important role in maintaining QoL of diabetics. By our research we have decided to analyse data about QoL of patients with diabetic foot ulcer in different health care systems of Visegrad countries. We expect the exchange and presentation of study results in an international context.

Target groups and groups benefiting from the project

The project will provide relevant evidences to find  suitable approaches and sources to support patients and their families. The project will be provided for professionals -diabetologists, surgeons, nurses, educators, psychologists, orthoprotetics, dieticians, home care services valid results that can help them to manage the process of long-term treatment of patients with diabetic foot ulcer with respect to their quality of life. The valid and relevant results will offer useful resources to  improve the care of patients with diabetic foot ulcer to  all  participating countries of V4.

Expected outputs

Research project focusing on the detection of QoL patients with diabetic foot in the health care system in V4 countries will be presented at research, practice and education. We will try to  find  the exact evidences of QoL patients with diabetic foot depending  on specific conditions in  every Visegrad country. By publication of the results we expect to fill the gap of information about the problems of patients with diabetic foot,  we provide evidences on the impact of one of the most serious complications of diabetes on patients' lives in the physical, mental and social context in the of conditions of V4 countries.
