During the grand ceremony held in the Aula of Comenius University, students Richard Ančic, Pavol Vencel, and Bruno Almásy from JFMED were awarded by Rector Marek Števček for their exemplary academic achievements, exemplary civic engagement, and for representing the university with distinction.

Richard Ančic, a fifth-year general medicine student, was lauded for his active involvement in promoting sexual and reproductive health. His initiatives include conducting workshops on current health topics and developing standards for sexual education for the Slovak Association of Medical Students. As the national coordinator for sexual and reproductive health and rights, including HIV and AIDS, Ančic has significantly contributed to sexual education for marginalized communities in eastern Slovakia and organized, for the first time in Slovakia, internships focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights for students from foreign medical faculties.

Pavol Vencel, a sixth-year general medicine student, has demonstrated remarkable talent and commitment. He served as the main organizer of the international MedGames competition in 2022 and 2023 and co-organized the faculty's floorball tournament "Martinský fonendoskop" in 2022. Vencel, also the vice-president of the Martin Medical Students Club, has successfully represented the faculty at various educational fairs and international student forums.

Bruno Almásy, a second-year general medicine student, was recognized for his bravery and quick action that saved a life. He provided immediate and effective first aid to an individual suffering from a sudden cardiac failure, a testament to his professional skills and moral fortitude.

The Rector also acknowledged twenty-seven educators for their significant contributions to the scientific, artistic, and professional successes of their students. Among those honored from JFMED were Prof. RNDr. Erika Halašová, PhD., and Prof. MUDr. Ján Švihra, PhD.

Professor Erika Halašová, a long-standing and prominent faculty member, has been instrumental in advancing scientific research, particularly in DNA and RNA profiling of cancer patients. Under her leadership as the Director of the Martin Centre for Biomedicine at JFMED, her team has made significant strides in theoretical and clinical research.

Professor Ján Švihra, a renowned expert in urology and a respected educator, has introduced innovative practices into the field and his teaching. His extensive involvement in various prestigious positions and organizations has significantly contributed to the development and progress of Jessenius Faculty of Medicine.
