The teaching of physiology as a basic medical subject started in the branch of the Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Martin in the school year 1966/67.
At the beginning of the training, the staff of the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava, especially the head of Prof. MD. Juraj Antal, DrSc. and his associates - associate professors and assistants (V. Kirilčuk, B. Brozman, J. Hajek, P. Sedlák and V. Štulrajter) who regularly attended Martin and provided theoretical and practical teaching of physiology together with the first assistant of the MUDr. Albert Stránsky (1966-1984).
During this period, there were rooms for practical instruction in the building of the former Pedagogical Institute at the Museum Street (Mala Hora). The lectures were held in the first years at the premises of the Slovak National Museum and the Secondary Industrial School.
