Clinic structure

I. Inpatient care

  • is an essential part of the complex care system for a broad range of neurological conditions. 

Number of beds: 33  

The inpatient clinic admits patients:

  • with planned appointments via the admissions service of the Clinic of Neurology
  • transferred from other clinics in the University Hospital Martin or from other health care facilities
  •  as emergency admissions during the working day or during the out-of-hours emergency service, usually via the emergency departments of University Hospital Martin

This department is essential for providing inpatient care to patients with neurological disorders. Patients not requiring intensive care are hospitalised here. The department has 23 beds, four reserved for intermediary care.

ICU ensures rapid diagnosis, intensive treatment and nursing care for patients with acute, life-threatening conditions affecting the central or peripheral nervous system. This mainly concerns patients with strokes, tumours, or seizure disorders of the nervous system. It provides differential diagnosis for comatose conditions with presumed primary CNS disease. The intensive care unit has 10 beds.

 

II. Outpatient section

Neurology outpatient clinic for adults

Physician: MUDr. Jana Zeleňáková 

Nurse: Bc. Renáta Labudová

Appointment times: 
Mon - Fri: 7.00 – 9.00 – specimen collection and application of planned prescribed therapy
9.00 – 15.00 – examination of patients with appointments
Acute conditions are dealt with in priority.

The outpatient clinic provides:

  • specialised neurological care for patients in their catchment area
  • patients are usually referred for consultation by a private district neurologist
  • organises the admission of acute or planned patients for hospitalisation
  • consultation of neurological examination of patients hospitalised in other clinics and departments of UNM, or the accident and emergency department
  • examinations are carried out in the neurology outpatient surgery or at the bedside of the ill person in the relevant clinic and department of UNM
  • dispensary care for people with specific diseases
  • proposes or gives an opinion on suggestions for a spa treatment
  • proposes or prescribes medical aids
  • within the scope of their specialisation, prepare short-term and long-term evaluations (forensic conclusions)

  • provides consultations and highly-specialised consultations for complicated conditions within UNM, for outpatients within their ordinary district
  • provides consultations and highly-specialised consultations for complicated conditions from other medical establishments throughout Slovakia

  • provides a higher level of treatment, preventive, dispensary, forensic and advisory care to patients with seizure disorders with a probable involvement of the nervous system in the pathogenesis of the disorder. This mainly concerns conditions which are more complicated in terms of diagnosis, therapy and evaluation
  • epileptic and non-epileptic seizure conditions
  • headaches

 

 

Psychology outpatient clinic

Psychologist: PhDr. Ján Grossmann

  • runs the psychology outpatient clinic of the Clinic of Neurology UNM
  • clinical and diagnostic services in neuropsychology for children over the age of three and adults
  • works with pathological processes manifesting themselves through neural and psychic symptoms. This mainly patients with organic lesions of the nervous system with disorders of symbolic functions. The psychologist works mainly with patients hospitalised in the Clinic of Neurology, as well as in other clinics and departments of UNM. They also diagnose functional mental disorders.
  • psychotherapeutic service for children over the age of three and for adults

  • outpatients from the wider catchment area
  • patients hospitalised in UNM

  • Provides basic and specialised neurological care for outpatients and consultation during Emergency Out-of-hours Service (LPS)
  • is available on workdays from 15.00 to 7.00, on weekends and holidays from 7.00 to 7.00 the following day

  • Functional tests of the sight and hearing pathways

  • Assesses and describes electroencephalogram records
  • Records during native registers, provocation and mainly after sleep deprivation
