History

Originally Computer Center was founded in 1990. It was equipped with a Minicomputer SM 5050 and two XT personal computers with a processor Intel 8086 and with 640 KB of system memory. 
In 2001, the Center has been transformed into the Department of Information Technology.

Currently it provides operation and maintains approx. 600 computers and other computer and telecommunication technology in JFMED CU. All faculty sites are interconnected by optic speed 1Gbps. Network itself is connected to the Internet through SANET - Slovak Academic Network speed 10Gbps.

 This allows you to run the most demanding applications and services such as video conferencing, multimedia in real-time, access to global databases of medical information, etc.. Department cooperates with CIT UC in Bratislava.
