WHO Award for Assoc. Prof. Baška from JFMED CU
Assoc.Prof. Tibor Baška, M.D., PhD. from the Comenius University Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin received an annual award of the World Health Organization (WHO) for his work in the field of tobacco control. The award was handed over by the Slovak secretary of the Ministry of Health, MUDr. Mario Mikloši, PhD. and the principle of the WHO Country Office in the Slovak Republic, MUDr. Darina Sedláková, MPH. The award is a part of the World No Tobacco Day every year.

Tibor Baška received the award at the Slovak Ministry of Health on the occasion of the National Health and Behavior Report of students between the ages of 11 and 15, based on which he prepared a chapter on addictive drugs.
T. Baška has been working in the field of tobacco control for almost 25 years, since 1990. He represents Slovakia in many international organizations associated with tobacco smoking problems. He carried out a few representative studies for WHO on the prevalence of tobacco smoking in Slovakia. T. Baška is also an active propagator of effective ways to quit smoking.
