The event will present two key European research infrastructures in the field of life sciences – EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory) and ELIXIR – and the concrete opportunities they offer to researchers from Slovakia.

EMBL supports a broad spectrum of disciplines, including molecular and cell biology, genetics, microbiology, infection and environmental biology, as well as interdisciplinary, technology-driven research.

ELIXIR enables cross-border access to life sciences data and large-scale computational analysis, with a strong focus on bioinformatics, genomics, health data, and systems biology. Slovakia is a full member of ELIXIR, and the national ELIXIR Slovakia node is currently being established at Comenius University in Bratislava.

The event will host representatives from EMBL, ELIXIR Europe, ELIXIR CZ, ELIXIR Slovakia, and FEBS. Participants will have a unique opportunity to engage directly with representatives of these institutions and ask questions regarding access to technologies, data resources, training opportunities, and international collaboration.

The event is open to all researchers for whom these opportunities may be relevant. We especially encourage early-career researchers and PhD students to take advantage of this opportunity.

The event is organised within the framework of the FORGENOM project as part of the FORGENOM Annual Workshop (10–12 March 2026). For your reference, please find the full workshop programme attached.

We would also like to draw your attention to the Workshop: Cross-Cutting Topics in Research, which will take place on 12 March 2026 (13:00 – 15:00) at the Comenius University Science Park in Bratislava. The workshop will address topics such as the publishing process and research communication, research data management, research ethics and integrity, intellectual property protection, and innovation support. The workshop is specifically dedicated to early-career researchers and PhD students (while remaining open to all interested participants).
