JFMED CU at the TEF-Health Conference in Porto
Last week, the representatives of Comenius University in Bratislava, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin (JFMED CU) participated in the international conference "Innovating Health Together" in Porto, Portugal.
The event was organized by the Pedro Nunes Institute, a scientific centre for innovation and technology transfer based in Coimbra, Portugal. The conference brought together 52 members of the TEF-Health consortium from nine European countries. JFMED CU has been part of this consortium since 2023, actively contributing to the introduction of experimental devices in healthcare, as well as the gradual implementation of artificial intelligence and robotics.
Through the TEF-Health project, JFMED CU will enhance its interdisciplinary clinical curriculum by integrating a live e-health platform. This platform aims to foster creativity and support modern medical education, in line with the technological advancements offered by artificial intelligence.
In collaboration with the University Hospital in Martin and the University of Zilina, JFMED CU is establishing physical testing centres where AI and machine learning will be directly applied to medicine. Additionally, the Faculty is contributing to the creation of virtual testing centres where neural network architectures will be trained before being implemented in practice.
JFMED CU is also preparing to provide technical and scientific support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including manufacturers and providers of healthcare AI solutions, as well as notified bodies. The TEF-Health project explicitly aims to build and strengthen sustainable collaboration between academic research, industry (SMEs), and healthcare practice. The innovative partnerships formed through this project will create an exceptionally favourable environment for the transfer of AI technologies from research to practical application.
