  • MUDr Jakub Jurica, PhD, was named ‘Winner of the Peer Award Specialty Finals in Gastroenterology’ at the global final of the ‘Young Talents in Internal Medicine’ competition in 2026 for his paper entitled ‘Non-traumatic left-sided atrio-oesophageal fistula’.   • MUDr. Peter Novodvorský, PhD., MRCP; Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc.; and Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin received the Slovak Diabetes Association Award for their university textbook Hypoglykémia [Hypoglycemia] (P+M Publishing House, Martin, 2025), which is also recommended for specialist training in Diabetology, Metabolic Disorders, and Nutrition.
  • MUDr Patrícia Kleinová completed a short-term fellowship with the European Renal Association in Nijmegen, the Netherlands

  • The Slovak Medical Society awarded Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., the Medal of the Founding of the Lékařsko-Slowanská Society.
  • The Slovak Society of Internal Medicine awarded Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., the Medal of the Slovak Society of Internal Medicine.
  • Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD., MHA served as a visiting professor at Cornell University, Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, USA.
  • During the Knowledge Exchange Programme, Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD., MHA was based at the Clinic of Nephrology and Intensive Care Medicine, Charité Berlin, Germany.
  • At the Department of Nephrology, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Matej Vnučák, PhD. completed a clinical internship focused on interventional and acute nephrology.

  • The Scientific and Grants Committee of the Slovak Diabetes Association has awarded MUDr. Jakub Jurica, PhD, the Young Researchers’ Award for scientific work in the fields of diabetology, obesity research and cardiology, published in international impact-factored journals and presented at the World Congress of Internal Medicine in 2025.
  • At the 8th Case Reports in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, MUDr. Zuzana Miertová was awarded 1st place for her case report.
  • At the 15th Student Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ostrava, MUDr. Patrícia Kleinová was awarded 3rd place for her paper "Glycemic variability in the early post-transplant period"
  • The Slovak Society of Nephrology has awarded MUDr. Patrícia Kleinová the Prize for the best publication by an author aged 35 or under
  • The Head of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Martin, Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, awarded 3rd prize to MUDr. Tímea Jusková during the 42nd Young Internists’ Days in Olomouc.
  • At the 22nd International Medical Doctoral Conference 2025 in Hradec Králové, MUDr. Tímea Jusková was awarded the prize for The 3rd Best Clinical Research Lecture.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD the Professional Society Prize for the best publication of 2023 by an author under 35: “Adiponectin/leptin ratio as a predictor of acute rejection in early post-transplant period in patients after kidney transplantation”

  • The European Renal Association (ERA) grant for completing a clinical fellowship was awarded to MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD.

  • The Slovak Society of Internal Medicine (SLS) awarded 1st place to MUDr. Patrícia Kleinová for the paper "Minimal glomerular changes associated with prostate cancer, or age is just a number" presented at the 7th Case Reports in Internal Medicine and Cardiology

  • At the Renal Clinic, Vasculitis and Lupus Clinic, Addenbrooke’s University Hospital and University of Cambridge, Cambridge, MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD., completed a clinical-research fellowship focused on autoimmune kidney diseases under the supervision of Prof. David Jayne, MD, FRCP, FRCP(Ed), FMedSci, and Rachel Jones, MD.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Matej Vnučák, PhD, the society’s prize for the best publication in 2022: “Acute Kidney Rejection after Anti-SARS-CoV2 Virus-Vectored Vaccine – Case Report.”

  • The Scientific and Grant Committee of the Slovak Diabetology Association awarded MUDr. Tomáš Bolek, PhD, a prize for a series of scientific works in the field of diabetology, nutrition disorders, and metabolism for the year 2023.

  • The Slovak Society of Internal Medicine (SLS) awarded the 1st SIS SLS Prize to Dr Jakub Jurica, PhD, for a paper presented at the 40th Young Internists’ Days in Olomouc

  • The Head of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University and University Hospital Martin, Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, awarded a prize to MUDr. Jakub Benko, PhD., during the 40th Young Internists’ Days in Olomouc.

  • The President of the Slovak Society of Internal Medicine (SLS) awarded a prize to MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD., during the 40th Young Internists’ Days in Olomouc.

  • At the 6th Case Reports in Internal Medicine and its Specialties, MUDr. Boris Focko was awarded 3rd place in the Cardiology section for his paper “Heyde’s syndrome – an indication for early aortic valve replacement?”.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded the team of authors M. Vnučák, K. Graňák, M. Beliančinová, M. Jeseňák, K. K. Macháleková, J. Benko, M. Samoš, and I.   • The Urology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University, Slovak Medical University, and University Hospital Bratislava, along with the Kidney Transplantation Center and the Slovak Transplantation Society, awarded Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD, a commemorative plaque for significant contributions to the development of transplantation activities in Slovakia on the occasion of 50 years of transplantation in Bratislava.

  • Novo Nordisk Slovakia awarded Assoc.   • The Slovak Diabetology Association awarded a publication prize for 2022 to Assoc.   • As part of the Erasmus+ program in Academic English, Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD., MHA was based at the Galway Cultural Institute in Ireland.

  • The Committee of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for the assessment of scientific qualifications awarded the scientific qualification level IIa to MUDr. Tomáš Bolek, PhD.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded the team of authors K. Graňák, P. Skálová, Ľ. Laca, M. Mokáň, and I. Dedinská the prize for the best publication by an author under 40 at the 43rd Congress of the Slovak Nephrology Society in 2022 for the paper “Effect of mycophenolic acid and tacrolimus on the incidence of infectious complications after kidney transplantation.” Int.   • The President of the Slovak Society of Internal Medicine awarded a prize for the best paper to Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Matej Vnučák, PhD. on the occasion of the 39th Day of Young Internists in Martin.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded the prize for the best abstract by an author under 40 to Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Matej Vnučák, PhD., at the 43rd Congress of the Slovak Nephrology Society.

  • An echocardiography internship at IKEM Prague was undertaken by MUDr. Jakub Jurica, PhD.

  • At the Department of Nephrology, General University Hospital in Prague, MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD. completed a clinical internship focused on glomerular diseases under the supervision of Prof. Vladimir Tesař, MD, DrSc., MBA.

  • ELI LILLY, in collaboration with the committee of the Slovak Diabetology Society, awarded the annual Lilly prize to Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., and Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, for the published work: “Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes Mellitus, and Associated Diseases,” P+M Turany, Martin, 2020, 444 pages.

  • The Presidium of the Slovak Diabetology Association awarded a prize for scientific contribution and professional development in diabetology to Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., and Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, for the book publication: “Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes Mellitus, and Associated Diseases,” P+M Turany, Martin, 2020, 444 pages.

  • Jessenius Faculty of Medicine Comenius University awarded the Silver Commemorative Medal of JFM CU to Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc. for his long-term pedagogical, scientific-research, and medical-preventive activities, as well as for promoting the good name of JFM CU at home and abroad.

  • Comenius University awarded Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., the Comenius University Memorial Certificate on the occasion of International Students´ Day.

  • The Slovak Medical Society awarded Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD, the bronze medal “Propter Merita” for contributions to the development of the Slovak Medical Society.

  • The Slovak Transplantation Society of the Slovak Medical Society awarded a society prize to Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD, for the best abstract by an author under 40 years: “Adipocytokines as Markers of Rejection after Kidney Transplantation.”

  • The Slovak Transplantation Society of the Slovak Medical Society awarded a society prize to the authors (co-author Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD) for the significant publication: “Algorithm for the Examination of a Living Kidney Donor.”

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society awarded MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD., the prize for the best abstract at the 41st Congress of the Slovak Nephrology Society, which was recognized with an ERA (European Renal Association) grant.

  • At the 20th ESOT Congress (European Society for Organ Transplantation) in Milan, MUDr. Karol Graňák, PhD., was nominated for the Leonardo Da Vinci Transplant Research Innovation Award.

  • The Slovak Nephrology Society of the Slovak Medical Society awarded a prize to Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD, for the best publication in 2019.

  • The Obesity Section of the Slovak Diabetology Society of the Slovak Medical Society awarded the Sečanský Medal to Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, for contributions in the field of obesitology.

  • The Slovak Diabetology Society of the Slovak Medical Society awarded a society prize to Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, and Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., for the scientific monograph: “Hypoglycemia in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus.”

  • The Slovak Medical Society awarded the gold medal “Propter Merita” to Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., for contributions to the development of the Slovak Medical Society.

  • Comenius University awarded the "Commemorative Medal of Comenius University" to Prof. MUDr. Peter Galajda, CSc., for contributions to the development of Comenius University.

  • The Slovak Society of Internal Medicine of the Slovak Medical Society recognized the lecture by MUDr. Tomáš Bolek, PhD, and colleagues: “Necrotizing Pancreatitis: Is Surgical Intervention Currently Necessary?” as the best lecture in internal medicine at the III. Case Studies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

  • At the Department of Hepatogastroenterology, Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, MUDr. Jakub Benko, PhD., completed a clinical internship.

  • The Presidium of the Slovak Medical Society awarded Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Ivana Dedinská, PhD, the Guoth Prize of the Slovak Medical Society in recognition of her professional, scientific, and pedagogical achievements.

  • The Slovak Medical Society awarded Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Milan Ochodnický, CSc. a Gold Medal for his contribution to the development and advancement of the Slovak Medical Society.

  • The Slovak Society of Internal Medicine and the Slovak Rheumatology Society (SLS) awarded Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Milan Ochodnický, CSc. a certificate of appreciation for his successful and dignified representation of Slovak medicine in domestic and international scientific and professional forums.

  • The Rector of Comenius University awarded a Silver Medal of Comenius University in Bratislava to Prof. MUDr. Marián Mokáň, DrSc., FRCP Edin, for his long-term pedagogical, scientific, and clinical contribution and for promoting the reputation of the university at home and abroad.

  • The Dean of JLF UK awarded a Dean’s Certificate of Appreciation to Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Milan Ochodnický, CSc. on the occasion of the opening of the academic year 2018/2019 for his significant contributions to the development of education and science at JLF UK in Martin.

  • The “Eberhard F. Mammen Young Investigator Award 2018” from Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis was awarded to MUDr. T. Bolek, PhD.
