Residence Permit

All you need to know about the temporary residence permit and the application process when studying at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine.

General information

In order to study in Slovakia, you will need to meet certain immigration and visa requirements. In general, if you are staying in Slovakia for 90 or more consecutive days, you will need to apply for the temporary residence permit. This permit is issued by the Department of Foreign Police and, after making an online appointment, you will need to attend your residence permit appointment in person.

Application process

All foreign students must register with the immigration police or apply for temporary residence permit. However, and depending on the country of your origin, the application process differs to a certain extent for the EU (EEA/EEC) and non-EU citizens.

Important notice: 

If you are a non-EU (3rd country) citizen and are transferring to JFMED from Ukraine, please note that as part of your residence permit application, you will have to submit a Criminal record certificate from Ukraine.
