The Slovak President visits the Jessenius faculty of Medicine in Martin
Comenius University’s Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin was visited by the Slovak President Andrej Kiska on Thursday 23 June 2016. Half of the faculty’s student body is made up of international students, which the president sees as proof that there are good schools in Slovakia outside of the capital city. President Kiska visited the laboratories at the Martin Centre for Biomedicine, which is focused on research into neuroscience, oncology, molecular medicine, and respirology.
“I am pleased that the president has appreciated the high level of medical education at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine as well as its excellent conditions for research, the impressive level of recognition and rewards it has received, and its work in improving Slovakia’s reputation abroad,” said the faculty’s dean, Prof. Ján Danko.
The visit to the faculty was a part of the president’s programme in the Turiec region. He also visited the Slovak National Library, the Viliam Pauliny-Tóth Secondary School and the National Cemetery in Martin.
