With more and more cases of Covid-19 virus being confirmed every day, the JF-CU is putting in place preventative measures and issuing guidance for students, staff and the wider academic community.

Issued on 4th March 2020

With more and more cases of Covid-19 virus being confirmed every day, the JF-CU is putting in place  preventative measures and issuing guidance for students, staff and the wider academic community.

To this date, there were NO confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Slovakia. However, the situation is fluid and can change quickly. A working group,  whose main objective is to monitor the developments and communicate any changes to the current guidance on Covid-19 issued by the relevant government departments and WHO, has been set up by the Rector’s Office.

The following preventative measures have been put in place:

  • Antibacterial alcohol- based gel dispensers have been placed around the faculty buildings, including the student halls. While  staying on faculty premises, students, staff and faculty guests are encouraged to use these dispensers as frequently as necessary.
  • Extra attention is being paid to keeping the faculty premises clean and using disinfectant and anitibacterial prodcuts for surface cleaning.
  • Distribution of flyers and other communication with relevant information and guidance on how to proceed if you suspect you might have contracted the virus.

The following recommendations are being issued by the Rector’s Office:

  • Avoid travelling to the affected areas by the Covid-19 virus. In particular, South Korea, China and Italy.
  • If returning to Slovakia from the virus affected countries and/or you think you may have been in contact with an infected person(s), please follow the guidance issued by the Office of Public Health  in Slovakia.
  • For the time being, avoid public gatherings and crowded places.

If you are displaying flu-like symptoms or think you might have contracted the virus while on the JF-CU campus and are a foreign national student, please contact us by email or phone.

  • During the standard working hours (Monday to Friday, 8 AM till 4 PM): Janka Sykorova, janka.sykorovauniba.sk; tel: +421 432633197.
  • Outside the standard  working hours and weekend: Erika Halasova, erika.halasovauniba.sk tel: +421 915855033.

Please do not come to the office in person if you think you migh be showing the symptoms of the virus.
