On Wednesday, September 13th, the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová, appointed 48 new professors. Among them, Matej Samoš from the I. Internal Medicine Clinic of Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Martin and the University Hospital Martin was appointed as a professor in the field of internal medicine.
During the appointment ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, President Čaputová emphasized the role of professors in fostering a cultured dialogue, teaching tolerance, and motivating students to engage in civic activities.
She stated, "The quality of your contribution to education will be judged not only by the number of graduates, doctoral candidates, and associate professors you nurture but also by the quality of educational materials you create for your students and the lectures through which you educate and inspire them. Above all, it will be assessed by the standards you uphold in your own work and in theirs. I wish for today to mark the beginning of a new phase in your academic and social endeavors, one that brings fulfillment to you, your institutions of higher learning, and our society as a whole."
