Information about the organization of teaching process in summer semester 2020/2021
With regard to the preparations for summer semester of the AY 2020/2021 and current epidemiological situation, the Order of the Rector of Comenius University No. 3/2021 has been issued (Organization and conditions of the teaching process and operation at Comenius University for summer semester of the academic year 2020/2021), which stipulates to perform almost all educational activities in the study programs of the first (Bc.), second (Mgr.) and first and second cycle joint to one unit (MUDr., MDDr.) of university study via remote form of instruction (online) in accordance with Section 108e Clause 2 of the Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education, as amended.
At the same time, the order defines exemptions for specific educational activities, in particular, for students of the final study years, where the student's physical attendance is required for proper completion of studies, as well as for students of those study programs in which physical attendance in laboratories or practical training is necessary (including students of General Medicine study program).
Since the Board of JFMED makes an effort to renew in-person form of instruction for all other students, all subject guarantors were asked to define essential and necessary scope of educational activities which require physical attendance of students in all subjects of the study programs. These predominantly includes practical training in Martin University Hospital, or in a simulation center, but also practical sessions requiring physical attendance of students.
Based on the information provided, the Board of JFMED CU will make a decision about the most appropriate method and scope of teaching, and shall submit a request for approval of the exemption to the Rector of CU by the end of January.
It will be necessary to perform educational activities in such a way so as the health of students and employees is not endangered in accordance with generally binding regulations, as well as measures, decisions and recommendations of the Slovak Government, Ministries, Public Health Authority of the SR or other relevant state authorities. That is why we recommend vaccination for those students who come into contact with the patient during their studies, as well as for healthcare professionals. In addition, we are preparing conditions for regular coronavirus testing for students and staff.
At the same time, the timetable will have to be adjusted according to the requirements and possibilities of individual workplaces and the final decision of the Rector. We assume that we will be able to publish detailed information about the timetables for individual study years of all study programs next week.
In this context, we would like to inform you that lectures as well as that part of practical training which does not require necessary physical attendance of students, will be provided via remote (online) form of instruction in all study programs during summer semester.
