Foreign students organised collection to help Ukraine
International students of the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin organised a collection to help people fleeing Ukraine. They purchased goods worth almost €7,000.
“Our international students have joined in the humanitarian aid effort and have donated money and essential supplies for those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine,” said the vice-dean of the faculty Martin Janík. “Organising themselves via social media and through their study groups, the students even involved their family and friends from abroad.”
A staggering amount of money – collectively almost €7,000 – was spent on buying vital items for women and children currently staying at the Slovakian holding centres near the Ukrainian border.
“I was amazed to hear that our international student community got involved in this important and worthy cause,” Janík added. “I would like to thank all and every one of them for their contributions and for their generosity.”
